Agriculture problems and issues
Over last 5 decades india made impressive progress in agriculture & allied lines:
1 green revolution making grains shortage to surplus despite rising population from 45 crores to 138 crores
2 white revolution giving big raise to animal husbandry and yield becoming No. two producer।cattle breed have significantly improved like karan swiss cows and murrah buffaloes
3 Blue revolution leading to rise in fisheries and allied trades
4 irrigation and micro irrigation network
5 Modified and hybrid seeds of grains vegetable and fruit with high yield per hectare
6 farming mechanisation
7 network of fertiliser plants in both public and private sector
8 cattle feed and poultry feed development
9 processed food plants
But we could not come upto to requirement below
1 cooperative farming model , consolidating land for better productivity
2 expanding irrigation network.
we still depend on rains significantly
3 developing own seeds of various items
4 setting up a 'pick and market' reliable system
5 ensure per acre minimum farm income
6 badly managed pds system and procurement
7 hoarding /speculation
8 un organised middle men market
9 cold chain and transportation
10 putting cap on farm to retail price margins.
11 wastage of grains and vegetables
3 new acts offer no solutions but will worsen it
Privatisation is no solution for such a big and poorer country.
Food security will be threatened.
Farming and many inputs are already Private.
Only hoarding and prices will go up
